Modern therapy is broken. Demand for public mental health services far outstrips their capacity leaving millions without support. With the hope of lessening their suffering many turn to the ‘booming’ private sector, but there’s a big problem, the vast majority of people using either public or private services fail to achieve anything close to the goals and life outcomes they were so desperately hoping for, they continue to suffer and to lead lesser, more fearful, lives. We're here to change that.
Today's blog post discusses the pervasive issue of mental health among men, underlined by societal expectations that equate masculinity with toughness and self-reliance. This stigma leads to higher suicide rates among men and a reluctance to seek help. We advocate for a comprehensive reform in public awareness, mental health services, and cultural narratives, emphasising that vulnerability should be viewed as a strength and not a weakness. It also provides insights on recognising warning signs of mental distress and offers practical steps for men and their loved ones in addressing mental health challenges effectively.
The second post in our series on burnout in the workplace, this guide provides strategies for engaging employers effectively. It outlines steps such as gathering peer support, accessing resources, practicing self-care, and preparing thoroughly for a discussion on mental health accommodations. Engaging in direct, respectful conversations and following up can help foster a healthier work environment.
We explore the causes and consequences of workplace stress and offer practical strategies for prevention. From common signs of burnout, including chronic fatigue, insomnia, detachment and the long-term health risks associated with unmanaged stress as well as provide actionable tips for setting boundaries, practising mindfulness, prioritising well-being, and seeking support when needed.
